   This cute little quilt looks like it was made in the 1930s but it is brand new! The pattern includes a template for the Dresden plate wedges but you can also use your favorite 18° ruler or buy the shapes pre-cut from the AccuCut die cutting system available at many quilt stores. 100 different wedges are required to make this quilt, including the fan blocks in the corners.

This quilt was inspired by a wild sunflower that grew up in my fence this summer. We almost cut it down but decided to let it grow. I eventually took photographs of it and used them as a screen saver on my computer. The sunny face of this wild spirit eventually moved me to capture it in fabric. I have embellished my block with glass beads and antique "bee" pins. It was just the ticket for brightening a cold wall in my husband's office.

The pattern is full sized, no enlargement necessary. There are instructions for both hand and machine appliqué included along with border construction and embroidery and embellishment tips.
