GENERAL

I came to your website looking for your free patterns but I can’t find them.

Go to the Books page. There is a free pattern under the description of each book.

Do you sell your quilts?

No. At this time, my quilts are more valuable to me as sales tools. Also, my family members are not yet sufficiently stocked up on quilts and are still fighting over who is getting what when I am finished with them. This was one of the reasons I choose to produce books. I can sell you a book, and even teach you how to make your own quilt, but my quilts are staying in the family for now.

You usually do hand appliqué. Can these designs be sewn on a machine?

YES! Most people make machine appliqué quilts. I am the odd person who prefers handwork. I am trying to include at least one machine appliquéd quilt in each of my newer books.

Is appliqué hard?

No! Most of my patterns are sewn from just one piece of fabric, or have the option to be sewn from just one piece of fabric. This makes them the perfect project for someone just learning to appliqué. Once you are more comfortable with the technique, try some of the other options offered in my books for embellishing and adding more pieces. If you still are not sure, check with your local quilt shop for a class on appliqué.

ORDERING

I don’t like to order off the internet. Is there another way to order your books?

Yes. You may print out an order form and mail it in with a check. The order form is located under each item.

I recently purchased your newest book at a quilt show. Now I would like to buy some of your older books but I can’t find them.

Ask your local quilt shop to order them for you. The main books (dogs,
cats, fish, butterflies) are easy to get and are available through most major distributors. Click Here for a list of my distributors. The individual patterns and smaller books (valentines, 3 kittens) are a little harder to find. They may be ordered directly through Ashton Publications.

I have a “___” and I only want a pattern for that dog. Can I buy just that one pattern or do I have to buy the whole book?

I am affiliated with Sova Enterprises which is a company that sells patterns in .pdf format. I have groups of individual patterns offered there that you can purchase if you do not want the entire book. They have cats, dogs, frogs, and bunnies plus many more items that you might not find anywhere else. Click Here to go their site. The best part is that there is no waiting, no back ordering, and no shipping charges!

I have admired your Grandma’s Bunnies book for years but never bought it. Now that it is out of print, can I still buy one?

Yes. I have a few copies set aside to sell to individuals. After those are gone, I can still print out the book and sell it to you in a Ziploc bag as a pattern. Sorry, I cannot do this for wholesale customers. If you are looking for books to sell wholesale, try some of the smaller distributors such as Starwood, Pattern Peddlers, or Eagle. They may still have some in stock. Click Here for a list of my distributors.

COPYRIGHT / PERMISSION

I sell items on e-bay / at a local craft show / dog show, etc. Can I reproduce your patterns on clothing, bags, socks etc., to sell?

No. I really would rather you did not. Unless the item is also promoting the book in some way, then you might e-mail me directly.

I am organizing a quilt show / retreat / bus trip / cruise, etc. Do you have any items you can donate for “goodie bags”?

I have many free patterns on my website. You have my permission to print them out and put them in goodie bags for these occasions. I sometimes have a few printed things here and there that I am willing to donate if your group wants to pay the postage. You need to be able to prove you are really an organization and not just an individual looking for freebies. Please send me an e-mail.

I make quilts / finished items to auction / raffle / sell to raise money for dog rescues / charities etc. Can I use your patterns to raise money?

Yes. I always give permission for charity items. But it is nice when you mention my name and / or my book in some way.

My local quilt guild / sewing club wants to use one of your books to make a group project. Do each of us need to purchase a book, or can we share a single copy?

You may use a single book but you should not copy the pages on a copy machine. Simply pass the book around with pieces of freezer paper and let each person hand trace the pattern they want to use. If they like the book and want to own one, please direct them to my website.

TEACHING / APPEARANCES

Are you available to teach a class / give a lecture at my local quilt store / guild?

Yes and no. I am just one person and my time is stretched thin, plus I have two small children in school. I will travel up to 1-1/2 hours away (from Oklahoma City) to teach a class for a minimum of 6 students. Usually on a Saturday. Farther away than that and we will have to chat. Please give me a call or send an e-mail. Often an out of town class is joined with a guild lecture and / or book signing and trunk show to make the trip worthwhile.

Do you loan out quilts to display in quilt stores?

Yes. A quilt or two will almost always accompany an appearance or a class. If you are promoting my books with a class of your own, or just have a nice display of my books in your store, ask me about availability.

Are you available to sign autographs at our local quilt show?

Yes. I just love to attend quilt shows. I would rather bring consignment inventory and have the person organizing the show sell my books while I sign autographs rather than sell the books myself as a vender. A great way to raise money for your organization.

FUTURE BOOKS

What are you going to do next?

I do not usually know what I’m going to do next until I do it!

Will you ever produce a book of horses / birds / buffalo / bears / penguins etc.?

Maybe. I have a notebook where I keep track of suggestions for future books. You just never know.

Will you ever produce a book of barns / teapots / flowers / cars / sports?

Probably not. I like living things as my subject matter. I find personally, that most non-living things are tedious to work on. That is not to say that I will not make a book for instance of farm animals that might include a barn. I just won’t have a book that is just barns.

I have a “___” breed dog, which you have not included in your published books. Will you make me a pattern?

There are so many different dog breeds, I cannot possibly cover them all in just two books. Please send me a photo of your dog and stay tuned. He just may turn up in a future book.
