Claire’s Sapphire Medallion Kitty – 48" x 48" Lap Quilt

   The kitty in this quilt was my daughter Claire’s first exposure to appliqué. We worked on the block together and I promised her that the block could be made into a usable quilt that would be all hers. It is also a great way to use up those “practice” blocks and clean out your scrap bag at the same time. Many different blue scrap fabrics were combined with a dark inner border print and a large scale outer border fabric. A beautiful continuous line butterfly motif was machine quilted in the wide outer border with a purple and blue variegated thread by Brenda Esslinger.
   The quilt made by Darcy and Claire Ashton and was finished using Warm and Natural® cotton batting by the Warm Company.
